Blue County is the duo of longtime friends Aaron Benward
and Scott Reeves. Born in Auburn, Ind., Benward moved
quite a bit with his family and found comfort in music.
He was encouraged to perform by a close relative, yet
it took him a bit longer to get into playing in front
of people. In high school, his family moved to Nashville,
where his father Jeffrey, a professional gospel singer,
invited him to join in with him now and again.
In Nashville, Aaron enrolled at Belmont University on
a soccer scholarship, with a major in music industry studies,
but he dropped out to tour extensively with his dad. Together
they played more than 130 concerts annually for several
years and recorded three CDs.
Reeves’ first big influence came from the family’s
roots in Delight, Ark., as well as from fellow Arkansas
native and family friend, Glen Campbell. After cultivating
a vocal style with the help of his Uncle Jack, Reeves
and his family were uprooted to Los Angeles, where his
father had taken a job with the Beverly Hills police department.
After finishing high school, Reeves, who had been acting
as well as playing music, took classes for two years at
the Beverly Hills Playhouse and picked up work in commercials
and on television shows, such as the role of Ryan McNeil
on The Young & the Restless.
Reeves and Benward met through a mutual friend at the
video shoot for Tamara Walker's "Didn't We Love."
They went to dinner, discovered that they had a lot in
common and agreed to keep in touch. Over the next several
years they visited one another in Nashville or L.A., and
introduced their families to each other. They traded thoughts
of what each hoped to do with his life, from writing a
screenplay, starring in a movie and finally making music
together.
They explored singing and writing together, or with other
collaborators, and scouting other material. Curb Records
signed them after an office audition. Their debut album,
produced by Dann Huff, includes the hit, “Good Little
Girls.” |
