Terri Clark was born on Aug. 5, 1968, in
Montreal and was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.
She moved to Nashville at age 18 and paid her dues by playing
at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, the famous honky-tonk
bar across the alley from the Ryman Auditorium. After signing
to Mercury Records, she reached No. 3 with her first single,
“Better Things to Do,” in 1995, followed by
hits like “When Boy Meets Girl,” a remake of
“Poor Poor Pitiful Me” and “Now That I
Found You.” After hitting No. 1 in 1998 with “Easy
on the Eyes,” Clark downplayed the cowgirl image,
but her career momentum faltered. However, in 2003, she
rebounded with the spunky hit “I Just Wanna Be Mad.”
Though she still lives in Nashville, Clark won the Canadian
County Music Association Fans’ Choice Entertainer
of the Year in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
